My topic today is ageing population. This is probably my last blog post until after examintations. When I walked home from badminton, today, there is this old man carrying two bags of grocery and climbing the over-head bridge. And he was shaking and legs were trembling. After climbing the first few steps there is a flat thingy for you to rest and he stumbled and almost fell. I was overtaking him and I keeped turning back to ensure that he is okay. See, I am so kind hearted. He saw me staring at him and signalled to me that he is okay. I have that sudden impulse to help him carry his groceries and walk him down the flight of stairs but but I didnt do that in the end.
The way he stumbled, the way he limp, the way he helplessly climbed the staircase carrying two bags of groceries, was appaling -pitful
And on the way back home, I saw afew elderly and 50s years old people. Its like so many elderly nowadays. I really feel pity for them. Imagine 50years from now, our hair would have turned gray, imagine 15years from now, our parents would be considered an elderly.
Once you reached that kind of age, life is kinda meaningless to you. No dreams, no energy to acheive your dreams and only leading a life which is worse than death. And Singapore is really facing an ageing population, so many old people nowadays, so pitiful. Some may be abandoned by their sons, daughters and put in a nursing home. It really is scary. . .
